The last blog

So this is my last blog and what we accomplished today is i finished the power point that we needed to get completed and i finished correcting my essay. Today i finished revising my script and i am going to turn it in to Spencer on Monday. And in Andrews class we are going to finish our prototype and we are then going to test it on Tuesday's. So overall we are doing well i think that we can get a lot accomplished this week.

The eight stages of genocide

So this week in Spencer's class we were talking about the eight stages of genocide and what I learned was that the people who are the victims of the genocide are the ones who are often blamed for what has happened to them by the people who commit the crime. I also learned that genocide happens and starts when a group or an ethnicity is singled out and treated as a lesser being of humans. This week in Andrew’s class we are learning about the scientists who help create the atomic bomb. And the prototype that we are creating in Andrews class is coming along we are a bit behind so we have to make up some time.

Blog in question

Today I went and looked my friend Eli's Blog and I wondered if he knows the purpose of these blog’s because I read some of his blog’s and they appeared that they didn't really have anything to do with his project. But as I kept reading through his blog I found out what he and his group members are doing. But while I was also reading he wrote about how he went to six flags with his friend and got him a new bike. So at some points I question what he is witting. And if he should be witting it. Because he also talks about what he did over the weekend and i believe that thats ok as long as you keep it school related.

Literature Circles

This week we started creating our prototype and we also started our lit circle groups. The book that I am reading is called: We wish to inform you that tomorrow we will be killed with our families by Philip Gourevitch. While reading the book we were given a calendar in order to keep track of how many pages we are support to read daily. A long side the calendar we are also given roles each week to complete for that weeks reading. This week I am the Illuminator and it’s my job to find a passage in the book that I feel my group should hear out loud. I also have to take notes on why I chose the passage and how important it is to the book. This week in Andrew’s class we are starting to work on our prototype and we have just started to put the frame up and are looking towards the future to foresee any obstacles we might encounter.

Sunday Week 2

This past week I learned about World War one. And what I learned was that the entire war started because the arch duke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated. This week I also learned about how to use the program adobe premier Pro. Right now we are about to finish our 30 second movie in Spencer’s class. In this past week in Andrew's class we also choose the filtration system we are going to build. The type of filtration system that we are going to use is a form of distillation in which we take the power of the sun and turn the water in to vapor which then will be turned back into pure water.

interview reflection

James Bot

The person we interviewed was named James Bot and he was a refugee who came from Uganda. James Bot was born in northern Uganda; he experienced the lost of a brother at the age of eight. James Bot has been shot at and has been tortured and seen death through out his life. He went from Uganda to Ethiopia where he met his wife. After living in Ethiopia he then moved to Sudan. But while at the border of Sudan he was thrown in jail. And he was thrown in jail because at the time a war was going on between the Sudanese and Ethiopia. He was thrown in jail because they suspected him of being part of the rebel army. He told the guards at the jail the he was originally from Uganda and they did not believe him so he told them to call the refugee camp which is where he had been staying. And they had found out that he was telling the truth and let him go. So he traveled into Sudan. He then soon found a job as a teacher and they lived there for about four months. Then after they fired him, because he did not have any papers that said he was from Sudan. Soon after he told his wife and kids that they had to go, and they moved to Egypt. And he got a job as a teacher and went for an interview at the United Nations and when he did the interview they said that he was going to America. His wife had a sister that had lived in America, but she had died and left five kids behind. He and his wife moved to Wyoming, to take care of the kids. He and his wife had been taking care of the kids and his wife leaves him and takes the six out of the nine kids. He comes home from work and he talks to the three kids that stayed behind. She had gone to Minnesota so he and his kids follow her to Minnesota. He takes the kids that he has and gives them to her because she is living of the welfare, and he wants to live together as a family but because of well fair he is not allowed to live with her. To straighten out everything he moved to San Diego to find a job.

While I was listening to his conversation at the part where he was talking about his wife taking the kids from him, he said that he dislikes America because of that reason the well fair. Because of that he is not allowed to see his kids. And the money that he makes half of it goes to the kids so he says that this law does not favor refuges. In fact he said that refugees do not like to come to America that they are only forced here because the situation in their country is so bad. I was surprised to hear him say that he dislikes America and that refuges dislike America as well. The process in which we took the interview I thought was a good process. We asked the questions and he gave an answer and we then would ask him to elaborate on that answer. At first I was nervous because I thought asking these questions would be too impersonal, but through out the interview he was a really nice guy very relaxed about everything. We interviewed James Bot at the Alliance for African Assistance headquarters. His story was amazing the struggles he went through, and his perseverance is just amazing. It gave me a whole new insight to what he went through living in Uganda.

Thursday week 1

Today we researched what type of water filtration system we want to do. We each are doing research about a type of filtration system; the filtration system that I researched was reverse osmosis. We then found our person who we want to interview. We also worked on our mini movie project. Today we also worked on our design for our prototype. I also thought of some questions in order to find out what we are going to ask our interviewee.
